Choosing the Right Heating System

A new Heating System is one of the largest investment you can make when it comes to your families comfort. When it comes to choosing what kind of heating or cooling system is right for you and your home, there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration. Such factors include: the type of climate you live in, your budget, utility costs, and the age of your home.

If you are unsure about where to start when selecting the right heating system. Contact the HVAC professionals at Black Hills, Inc. Heating and Air Conditioning can help make the process of purchasing a new system stress free. Our experienced Comfort Specialist will help you accurately assess your situation and provide you with the best heating solution for you and your home.

Here are some of your heating choices:

Furnaces: A furnace blows hot air through ductwork to warm your house. Furnaces are among the least expensive systems to purchase, and if you already have ducts for central air conditioning, a new furnace is even simpler to get up and running.

Heat pumps: Heat pumps offer an “all-in-one” solution. However, heat pumps have difficulty handling extreme low temperatures. Because our winters in Washington are less severe than in many northern states, heat pumps are attractive alternatives.

Choosing a heating system isn’t something you should do quickly or without the help of a trained professional like Black Hills, Inc.  You must consider the size of your home, its insulation, and the space available to determine the right heater for you. For Heating Replacement services in Washington, Black Hills, Inc. has been providing top quality heating installation services for 20 years.

Dangers of Not Scheduling You Furnace’s Annual Tune-Up

Before chilly autumn nights set in, you need to make an appointment for your furnace’s annual checkup. There are many potential dangers to not performing furnace maintenance and filter changes on time, neglecting this yearly cleaning and inspection, a system can wear itself out quickly, pump deadly carbon monoxide into your home, or simple stop working.

Contracting with a company like Black Hills, Inc. Heating & Air Conditioning ensures high quality Heating Maintenance to allow home owners the comfort and relaxation they deserve.

The Dangers of Not Changing the Filter

When the system is properly maintained, it is clean, efficient and produces comforting heat on demand at the touch of the thermostat or consistently throughout the day and night.

The furnace filter is designed to remove dust from air as it passes through your furnace. The longer your furnace filter is in place the dirtier it becomes. The increase of particles caught in the filter creates resistance to air flow through the filter and reduces efficiency.

To make up for the loss of flow through a dirty filter, the heat exchanger, usually a gas or oil fired flame, must work harder to produce the same amount of heat to the space.  This becomes costly financially and causes undo wear and stress on the equipment, requiring a partial or full replacement much sooner.

Additionally, operating above ideal designed conditions, cracks in the chamber may appear from the over load which can allow carbon monoxide, a toxic gas, to be released into the duct work.  This gas in large quantities in the home can cause headaches, nausea, and in extreme circumstances, even death.

Regular Maintenance

To avoid problems and excessive strain, remember to change the filters at the beginning of each new heating season.  An annual maintenance, check-up and thorough cleaning by a qualified company like Black Hills Inc. Heating & Air Conditioning ensures a safe and comfortable season of warmth with no need to worry about the dangers that may lie within your furnace. Ductless Mini Split System

Are You Ready For A Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioning System?

If you’re like most homeowners then you likely have a central heating or air conditioning system in your home that uses a series of ductwork that pushes air throughout your home. But did you know that there are heating and cooling systems that don’t use ducts? Ductless mini split system are quickly becoming more popular as a high energy-efficient heating and cooling solution. For more information about Ductless Systems,Call the Washington heating and cooling experts at Black Hills, Inc. Heating & Air Conditioning today.

Ductless Mini Split Systems

Ductless mini split heating and air conditioning systems are wall-mounted units in each zone or room of the house. These wall-mounted units circulate the air in each room or zone and provide heating or cooling. Each individual unit is connected to a central outdoor condensing unit by a series of refrigerant tubes and electrical wires.

Benefits of Ductless Mini Split Systems

There are a couple benefits to using a ductless system.

    • No Ductwork: Unlike traditional central ducted systems, split-ductless systems do not push air through ductwork. Instead, an indoor fan coil or "blower" inside the room is connected to the outdoor unit by small refrigerant pipes and electrical wiring. Because there is no ductwork, they are prefect for a home that installing a conventional ducted system could not be feasible.

    • Greater Control: Ductless mini split systems can also give you more control over which rooms are being heated or cooled. Individual thermostats on each unit allow you to set the temperature for each room rather than expending the energy to heat or cool your entire house.

    • Versatile: Ductless split systems can be installed almost anywhere in your home. They come in a variety of sizes and models, so it easy to choose a system to meet your specific heating and cooling needs.

Here at Black Hills, Inc. our HVAC Installers have extensive experience installing these types of heating and cooling systems. If you are interested in learning more about Ductless Mini Split Systems, schedule an appointment with one of our Comfort Advisors today! +1 (866) 885-7885

Dust and Your Air Conditioner

Have you noticed that your air conditioner isn't as efficient has it was in the past? This could be a sign that you may have excessive dust or debris build up on your air conditioner, when you have buildup on your AC system it causes performance, efficiency problems, and shorten the life of your system. Let the air conditioning professionals at Black Hills, Inc. Heating & Air Conditioning help you take care of your system, let us perform our 14-Point Signature Tune-Up on  your air conditioner, we will clean, calibrate, and bring it back to factory fresh.

Below are a few ways that dust can affect your Air Conditioners performance and efficiency.

Dirty Coils. Both the inside evaporator and the outdoor condenser need to be kept clean. If there is dirt build up on the coils, it acts as a blanket and keeps heat from transferring efficiently. Leading to warm air coming through the ducts.

Blower motor. A blower motor is an important part of pushing air through your ducts, but if excessive debris gets on the blades it can cause the blower motor to work harder, and push less cool air out, and may have to be replaced.

Dirty Filters: Change or clean your filters regularly. Dirty filters restrict the airflow, making your air conditioners work harder to circulate air
